Diablo 3, It’s got upgraded graphics, to be on Par with World of Warcraft, if that is bad, I’m not sure It’s your desicion, I think there fantastic. but the gameplay is exactly the same, but theres also new items, zones etc. and a new damn good pvp system, where you can take over cities and castles etc. damn its fun, I’m on my cousins computer at the moment, Hes got acsess to the closed BETAS, blizz has decided to announce a few weeks before release (early march 2009) for some reason…

what you say has alot of truth but why would they make a mmo for starcraft or wc3 when they are earning around £64 million/ $90000 i think on WOW
because there are all of us rts fans that are out there and i’ve played a bunch of them on handhelds, pc’s everything and war3 brings me back again and again
I do know that they’re making another patch for war3 1.22, so they haven’t completely forgotten about us. But I think that a war4 could bring in a decent amount of money for them as well as keeping their loyal fans even longer and not losing them to a company who will make one

SC was released 1998 or 1999
D2 was relased 2000
Wc3 was released 2002
SC is updated(SC2) first.
Diablo is updated(D3) second.
WC is updated(Wc4)third.
This only means Blizzard may or may not continue the pattern… Whatever just logical speculation…..

So Blood Elves and Dranei will have a seperate race, what about the Nagas? The story ended without telling what really happend after the death of Illidan and its aftermath on the Nagas and Blood Elves.

Then, it would be possible to have DoTA 2 after sometime in the release of WCIV.
Now we know Diablo 3’s announced, and a ‘next-gen’ MMO is in the works. I’m thinking this MMO is either StarCraft or a new franchise. But we also know they are working on a new Warcraft project. This ‘next-gen’ MMO could be that, but I really doubt it since they don’t want to ruin the success of World of Warcraft, thus losing them a lot of money.
So the questions is, is this MMO the new project, or something different all together? I’m almost sure Wc4 is in the works.
Now doesn’t it seem like WotLK is wrapping up the story? I mean, raiding parties will be able to fight Arthas/Lich King! To me it makes sense that a Warcraft 4 can come after this. They’re going to try to keep WoW going for a while though, it’s a really good source of income.
@LiLdevil, that could of been why it turned out the way it did so far, but it probably really doesn’t matter.

I think that there has to be a warcraft 4 because you never end a series at 3. It will have an entirely different world editor and a complete new view. There will be overhead cameras and an option to change cameras to 3rd or 1st person. I will not be surprised if there are no races. There will probably be something new or unsuspected like ogre or murloc.

The Lore has kind of been messed up due to WoW, for example the trailer for Fury of teh Sunwell patched showed the Blood Elves escaping Azeroth thru the portal in an area called Blasted Lands, when actually the escaped thru the portal on top of Dalaran with Lady Vashj the very portal which Kel’Thuzad used to summoned Kil’Jaden, that and other small things have screwed up the lore,
As well as Illidan Dying, and Lady Vashj, (they r said to be dead after Fury of the Sunwell patch came out) Thats one lose ed tied up (illidan) and once WotLK comes out and Arthas Dies, thats another lose end.
Which ends with WC4 maybe being one of these 5 options (ofc there are more option in which the storyline cud follow tho these r the obvious ones)
1. The Hunt for Kil’jaden and the end of demons and yada yada (Kil’jaden wasnt killed in Fury of the Sunwell just sent back)
2. They go back in time and the game will be about the Titans and the Old Gods.
3. The Horde and Alliance fight on!, WC4 cud contain the same Allegiances which where created in WoW
4. the story continues with the freedom of the Blood Elves and Dreanai, and the Wrath of the Naga, (revenge upon the Night Elves and)this mite mean the older races cud be included.
5. the story mite continue but the lore about the War of The Ancients wood influnce the comin future of lore, meaning the fights between naga, Blood Elves and Night Elves will start to influence the future, destoryin the world maybe and the other races mite need to intervene

I am almost positive that there will be or already is a Warcraft IV in development. Blizzard announced that they are working on a new WC project, and I have severe doubts of this being a WoW 2. Why WC4? Because in WoW: LK, Arthas is dead, along with just about every evil thing the WC games had to offer. The WoW franchise is thus, dead. The only profit-wise choice is a WC4. It will create some new storylines that people need to ruin in future WoW Expansions
Some possible plots of the story (most probable to least probable)…
1. The Horde and Alliance temporarily bond to open up the gates in Outland that Illidan closed (going to other worlds)?
2. WoW: LK is the end of The Frozen Throne (because it never ended, really.), thus WC4 would take off where WoW ended, Horde and Alliance, and their respected allies, against each other.
3. WC4 could actually be a prequel to the first game (dunno all the lore, so i really dont know about this one)?
NEW RACES:
Dranei
Blood Elf (redone with its own heroes and buildings)
Naga (redone with its one heroes)
Demon (the ‘death’ of Kil’jaeden in WoW could have loosened his grip on some demons as what happened with Arthas)

Warcraft Series was awesome, I loved it and I hope they make WC4, but if they do, they need to split the Timeline, 1 for Wow and 1 for Warcraft Series because as stated, Wow is killing the Lore.
Several differant things can happen in my opinion
1. a game with with WoW and warcraft combined into one game and two different modes! One where you play warcraft IV and continue the story for a campaign and you can play in battle.net another where you play on wow with you’re “hero” and he carries over to a type of game onto battle.net where you’re race is whatever race you’re wow characters is and he is you’re hero and he also looks like you’re character on wow =O For those who don’t want to spend $120 or so for both games can buy the games separately but the feature with you character will be canceled of coarse on w4. Maybe they would offer a discount for buying the “war chest” or whatever they call it with like $10 off. With doing so, combining the games.
2. THEY USE CoT!!! In WoW future or past which ever timeline they want to use is different from each other or one goes to the passed and other goes to the future.
3. Stop WoW for sometime or at least expansions (very very very in probable) and add some more lore to ruin.
4. JUST ADD BETTER GRAPHICS TO W4 IN A PATCH OR SOMTHIN TO W3 PLZZZZZZZZ

wc4 might come out (or a sequel 2 wc3 ) since BLIZZARD have earned enough money from WOW ,WOW the burning crusade & WOTLK so they maight be doing the project sometimes later however, new races might not come because it will be too hard to think a balance between units (e.g. bloodelves and naga )
Oh , by the way, DIABLO III and STARCRAFT II (let alone WOTLK ) costs so much time that some fans says that theese games can only be oficailly released by 2009 or spring 2010. Proves that wc4 is going to take a longgggggg time to complete and release.

LoL…does anyone actually know the history of Blizzard? They asked Gamesworkshop if they could make a game about warhammer. The request was denied so they made their own “original” game titled warcraft: orcs and humans. Now I will say that I love the warcraft series, but I will acknowledge the fact that they took all of their original ideas from Warhammer. Starcraft has Warcraft influences? Not really…the races are based off of races in Warhammer: 40,000. Terran – Space Marines, Zerg – Tyranids, and Protoss – Eldar. It is really that simple…
My thoughts on Warcraft 4, it will most likely be a prequel. The new MMO that they are working on is probably a new franchise or WoW 2. Oh yes, Warcraft 4 is more than likely already in development. (Blizzard began work on Diablo 3 immediately after Diablo 2’s release, they just had most of the team working on Warcraft 3. Same goes with Starcraft 2.)
I think the story of WC4 will be based on some information we dont know, that happened in the past just to clear some things, maybe it wont be called WC4, maybe the story will be about how all this chaos started and some secrets of the races will be revealed, maybe some traitor again, maybe some old race bfore humans like orcs or somthing, i dunno. Or going to the future and confusing you whit the weird things happening and then at the end revealing some dark secret of what happened and that is all.

I see a lot of people talking about how WoW messed up the lore…
If you really look at it, Blizzard is controlling the lore…
They have the say on whether or not a plot character is actually killed, such as Kil’jaden…
Just look at it…
Think of WoW as an RTS with a very long campaign that is not played all the way out yet…
There will have to be a cutoff point on the lore for WoW…
Otherwise the game would become far too long for new players or someone starting a new character…
So imagine that WOTLK is the last instalment…
There are so many characters left over, and the story can continue…
Blizzard is fantastic at bringing the story into a new light, just look at the development from WC1 all the way up to now…

They will make a WC4 when WoW becomes much less popular, look at all kinds of games, they develop and change so expect WC4 in about 10 years. It’s simple economics, supply and demand, demand for WoW is up so when it goes down they come up with something else. This is why Blizzard is a rich company and can afford the best programmers to create the best games.
I hope there will be a warcraft4 and a new dota will come too!!!:)

I think that even that wow is based on wc …it think that it doesnt break the lure….cause it is freestanding game and I see no problem to continue both games…wow and wc…..simultaneously…..there are many players in the world…and the games wouldnt affect each other in the numbers of players play them

Heh, the only races I want to see in here are the Naga and the Blood Elves in WC4. I can’t wait for this to be made… and I’m sure that whatever lore Blizzard comes up with, I most likely will be satisfied with it. like 99.9% will love it. I have yet to play SC or SC2, and probably will not. Hopefully they never make a SC MMORPG though.

I disagree with ReXXaR … I don’t think they should make a prequal series. The game would be better if it progressed from where it left off … units need to evolve into new exciting units rather than de-evolve into something more primative than what they have already appeared in the whole WC series.
I can’t say i have played the first warcraft … but i imagine the units were very primative.

The latest panel from BlizzCon has been about Starcraft 2. The big news is that the campaign will be split into three separate parts, each being sold as a stand alone game. (people were booing this decision)
This is to ensure a faster release and a more polished campaign. Each of these will feature the same multiplayer experience, however you will have to purchase a separate product to play each of the campaigns.
In other big news, it was also announced the Warcraft 4 will use the same sort of system, which basically confirmed that Warcraft 4 is in the works!

Wracraft 3 & world of warcraft’s history has been twisted . Blizzard says they will write up about that some other day which may indicate that the “twisted part” might be in warcraft 4
they probably wont make it because it will hurt the wow sales…..
I like the additional races.. Split the horde into trolls, tauren, orcs, blood elves and undead… And the alliance human, dwarves, gnomes, night elves, and draenei. plus a lot more races.. Maybe satyrs, tuskarrs, demons, nathrezim and etc… I want them to add maybe 4-6 races.. hehehe.. And this game wouldn’t be boring after maybe 10 yrs.. but the problem is balance.. yet players can make new strategies, gameplays, techniques and etc….
Those who think there will be 6 races or more have certainly not played Warcraft 3 at a high level(online) or not played it at all. The balancing of units is extremely difficult. And there won’t be dranei, they don’t even appear in TFT (if I can remember). And what’s more difficult to think for Blizzard is I think more about the balancing than about the history of warcraft. And those who play WC3 (like me) dont give a **** about the history of warcraft, we just want to play online.
i just dont see it happening.
Well, most of this is just speculation on Wc4. I myself hope that there will be one and cannot wait.
I don’t think that wow also messed up the story lines, and even furthered them. For example the fight between Illaden and Arthus at the end of TFT, was meant to be in CGI but blizzard ran out of time and could not finish it. However, Illaden was meant to be shown wounded NOT dead and thus escaped back to outland.
There are other things in WC3 RoC and TFT that didn’t happen the way blizzard wanted, and was able to clear up in WoW.
I’m a firm believer that there will be a WC4 in the future, albeit maybe not announced for at least 3-5 years. My predictions on the future of the WC franchise are as follows:
1.) Blizzard releases at least 1-2 more expansions for WoW, approximately 1.5 to 2 years apart. They continue to allow players to “defeat” major characters without actually killing them for the most part (Illidan being the only exception so far). There’s still a pretty big arsenal of characters that they still have in play, and I imagine more will enter the scene before WoW is finished for a nice full cast for WC4 (one example is that they revealed Muradin Bronzebeard wasn’t actually killed when Arthas wielded frostmourne, he was just knocked out).
2.) Blizzard begins development on WC4 sometime after D3 or SC2 are released, but keeps it hush hush. They plan the storyline to follow the events they have mapped out for WoW, and publicly announce its development soon after WoW’s last expansion is released.
3.) WoW developers begin work on their next MMO in secrecy, while WC4 is developed released in a series of games a la SC2.
4.) The development of the new MMO is announced shortly after the final WC4 game is released (be it WoW2 or starcraft-based).
WE NEED MORE WARCRAFT!!! The Competitiveness of the Dota’s and the Ranked Ladders, which takes me to We Should Have Ranked Dota’s!!!!

D3 and SC2 will never take a part at the greatness of D2 and SC.
And Wc4 needs to take Place after TFT or it is falling out of content.

I think that if Blizzard did release a wc4 that it won’t be that different. It’s like how people were obsessed with waiting for Halo 3. It’s a fun game and has a little better graphics, but not much different from Halo 2. Just a new campaign and revised graphics is all i expect from WC4. There may be a few new units but i don’t see a whole new race coming, unless it is just a campain race
First of all WoW didnt ruin lore as Bliz said its basically just for fun, everything that has happened in wow has NO effect on Warcraft universe whatsoever.Thi means Arthas is alive (damn hate that prick),Illidan has survived his duel with arthas (phew),Kil’jaden IS alive2 and lets not forget about BIGGEST threat of ALL,Deathwing is alive 2 and he shoud become the concern of Horde and Alliance. You idiots!!! There MUST be a Warcraf IV simply cuz it’s the best multiplayer game EVER! Many will say that that’s WOW but they’re fools. And the reason for Wc IV is one and only ONE map: DOTA BABY! Dota is still popular so to ceep the dota custumers and get some new ones they need Wc IV in order to make something like DOTAR (Defense Of The Ancients Returns). It woold be cool just to have the same DotA with good graphics (which unfortunately isn’t Blizzard’s strong side). Here’s the lowdown. The current projects at Blizzard are: The next WoW expansion, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, And another MMO. Then there’s an opening for a new coder of some type for ANOTHER game. This is unspoken of and unannounced and MAY POSSIBLY be WC4.
Blizzard announced that something in SC2 will be the same in WC4, so they already announced that WC4 is in the upcoming idea folder
WoW killed the lore, WC4 has to start where WCFT left off.
WC4 cannot start where WC:TFT left off because WoW has generated so much NEW Lore ( The Titans, the Old Gods, the Dragon Flights, the Emerald Dream, etc ).
Having WC4 start where TFT left off is right out a dumb thing to say. Yes, big names have died. These things happen. Once you learn that this is “ok”, then you will be able to perceive a lot more than just “zomg, they killed off such big names, there’s no more lore, waaaa”.
If there is a wc4 then thered have to be about another 2 races to freshen the game out and new units and spells etc.
Races that are in tft’s storyline e.g. naga and drainei shouldnt be playable becuase that wouldnt be fresh and new. they could put them in though just for more choise and units but if they get put in then there might have to be like 9 playable races :/

My predictions are that there will be Warcraft IV, but like 5 years from now. Blizzard are working on 2 big games now, Diablo III and Starcraft II and i think that they are kinda not ready to make new warcraft game. It’s all about wc3 perfection. THAT GAME IS AMAZING. To make a new game that will take time after wc3 would be very hard to imagine. They have plenty options on the story, but will the game ever be the same? I mean wc3 is completely unique and modificatable game that its posibilities are far beyond anyone thought it would be. Making wc4 would be the hardest thing blizzard ever worked on.

One thing that could be pretty cool is if Blizz found a way to work this into the story line: find a way for the Paladins to turn Arthas back into a human hero and he once again leads the human race into the future!!
For those of you posting about stories where WC4 will feature the death of the Lich King, undead, etc. I can tell you you are wrong. Blizzard is going to cover all that in WoW. If there is a WC4 you can bet it will be set in some timeline far removed from the events of WoW as to not tread on Blizzards cash cow.
I think there is gonna be Warcraft 4 wich is gonna be like this:
Around 5 players would be in instance(yes, i mean that W4 will be infused with WoW, so it will be new expansion) and they would be hero characters. one player will command them and will be able to create new units(NPCs). They would get uber buffs so they can stand many NPCs attacking agaisnt them, but have however possibility to die. Just like in W3, you must be revived at altar of storms/heroes/darkness/etc with the resources somehow gathered by the commander.(unless a NPC will be created to ressurect him).
NOTE: this is totally invented by me and it doesnt contain any information blizzard/other companies have told me. I wont be answering to your replies.

Well, people, think about it. The World Of Warcraft story goes along with the one from the Warcraft 3: The Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne. WoW The Burning Crusade happens right after the Reign Of Chaos story (Illidan is the main character on the “stage”). Then comes Wrath Of The Lich King, which is after Arthas becomes one with the Lich King. So their story has come to an end. The are no new characters, heroes and such. They need to create them in WC4, because then WoW will become boring no matter how much they upgrade the graphics, gameplay and other stuff, since the story is exactly the same. WC4 has to be created.. There is just no other option.

A warcraft 4 would be awesome!! i can imagine the awesome things Arthas, Illidan, Keal, Vashj and Kil’jeaden can do. they should make a naga race with new heros, and hav the scourge come back and have Arthas as the Lich King instead of a Death Knight, in a campain going after kil’jeadan, to finish him off. they should make it 6 main races. The Horde(orcs and dranai), the Alliance(Dwarves and Humans), the Scourge(Lich King and Forsaken), Naga(Vashj and murlocs with Naga Royal Guards added to tech tree), Demonic Legion(Kil’jeadan and Illidan with fel orcs), and the Night Elves(bring Malfurion and tyrande back, and add the Blood Elves).

Wc4 will take ages to make to overcome Wc3 there are so many expectations that if they release something that don’t live to those expectations wc4 will get a rough start .. I think that they want to improve the game play before thinking of adding a new race. .

I’ve read all the posts so far and most of them are people just mixing up the WoW storyline and the original RTS Warcraft’s storyline. And having a paradox to go back in time might be possible. I wouldn’t count on having Demons as a new race unless either Prince Kael’Thas somehow weakens the Demons or some other race does it. There would be no point at all in having to create a portal to go to Outland, unless the Human Alliance(Or the Scarlet Crusade as it’s now called) goes after Illidan’s forces based at Outland. Possible races might include: Forsaken(No kidding), Blood Elves(If they recieve new units), Naga, and possibly the Demons IF they get weaker for some logical reason.
King Arthas/Ner’zul(Or however you spell it) isn’t dead. That’s just the WoW storyline so stop saying Arthas/Ner’zul is dead. Illidan, possibly alive, he wasn’t exactly sliced in half so he might be alive. Taurens being a new race, also something in WoW. Taurens sided with the Orcs when Thrall helped Cairne with his problem with the Centaurs. I don’t really see any clue about “Gnomes.” I have a friend that plays WoW and he says there are Gnomes in WoW. Maybe they were in the previous versions, but I don’t know, I only played Warcraft 3(Both RoC and TFT) and a bit of Warcraft 2. Fel Orcs with Demons mixed might be another way to make Demons a playable race. And Magi Bronz, sorry to sound so brazen or anything but, Vikings? Come on, this isn’t like really far back in time. It’s around the time in Medieval ages where they first invented gunpowder. Eh, maybe a later version of Vikings.
So that’s all I have to clarify/say. Hope you get your facts straight now! ^^

so there could be like a Horde Campaign, where 1 player controls the Orcs, another player the Tauren and another the Trolls and they all go pwning bosses

Alrite first off, idiots must be here, warcraft 4 is not a expation to WoW, fucking noobs, but any way,I was reading some quotes of some blizz guy(forget name) but he/she said something about a “secret” project and it be released in either 2010 or 2011.
Sorry for being brash, but dota has nothing to do with warcraft, it is just a map that became popular. Dota “2″ would have to be actual new gameplay, otherwise it would just be 1.845984 or whatever, not 2. Adding new characters, new graphics, new anything doesnt make it a number 2, only if it is actually different in playability. It also has no storyline, and no backstory (explaining why random heroes are fighting each other) and finally, it isnt strategy, making it non warcaft 3. Finally, if u want more races in warcraft, just hope that blizzard makes it easier to have more than 4 races. Otherwise, it is still possible to create as many races as u want. The easiest way to do this would be to replace a race, like just deleting all the orc units and making new ones in their place, or there is an incredibly hard way to make a selector in game that allows u to choose from a limitless list of created races. Alright, some guys have talked about the “secret project” that Blizzard will launch in 2010, well. did you know that SC 2 AND Cataclysm will not come out before 2010? As Blizzard said on BlizzCon a few weeks ago…
If there is going to be a Warcraft IV I think it would be cool if WoW and War IV were compatible, e.g. for race heroes you can download your WoW characters and use them as heroes. Perhaps even an evolution system that allows varriety in the way a race can go, e.g. Orcs at a point during a melee game (when they upgrade their town hall?) can choose to follow a Demonic of Shamanistic path allowing them to train Warlocks or Shaman, very similar to the system in AoM

I am a map-maker for war3, i have made 1-or-2 mods for it. and i can tell you that one of the things that made warcraft so eccelent for me was the custom maps, imagine how much less impact war3 would have had if there were no custom maps like DotA? warcraft came out in 2002 and TONs of people make mods, animate models and play it even today, in 2009, i think that WoW ruined warcraft, i really hope they make it, oh and if anyone is interested, here is a war3 mod with several races, its kida cheesy, but well made:

wc4 is apparently confirmed and is over the web. first people to heat it up was dota portal when people asked about wc4 (later to be delete by a mod for unknown reason)
a new wow expansion is being worked on with the preview video on the wow site. sc2 and diablo3 is confirmed and wc4 next in line? if i can remember a site posted about the release dates wc3 = 2002 starcraft = 2000 diablo = 2000 so surely the process would be oldest to newest in making the new games and warcraft is last but wow being the biggest , it would come before wc4

guys listen up ! warcraft 4 might be made, but it will take aditional years, if so. the reason of that being that blizzard still have a lot of material to work on for world of warcraft( which is much more popular then teh strategy game, warcraft3), so no need for a new backstory.
for example
reign of chaos: explain why orcs are in kalim and much more: first WoW
Frozen throne: explain illidan in outland, and caverns of time: the burning crusade, and why and why arthas is lich king: Wrath of the lich king.
even though all of that seems like much, they still have a lot world of warcraft to work on. here are some examples
Cataclysm: Deathwing, gilneas, broken isles,mount hyjal and goblin/worgen.
Secret of the depths(?) the maelstrom, residense of the makrura and the naga, queen nazjatar.( and perhaps new race/class?)
Coming of the dark titan(?): demons, kil’jaeden, sargearas. (playable race nathrezim/pandaren?)
those are just a couple of examples.

If I could change history I would make sure WoW was never made and WarCraft stayed true to its RTS roots. WarCraft 4 could have been an epic continuation of where WC3: Frozen Throne left off. But WoW stole all the good plots.

Just thought I’d toss this in the mix. Why not leave Azeroth completely? Trying to continue direct from FT clashes with WoW too much. Making a prequel would be interesting, but we’d lose races.
Why not set up a portal and go to some “Home planet” of the demons (or something similar), and start fresh? I don’t play WoW at all–so sorry if this has been tried. I personally think it would be an interesting way to go with
the game, and it doesn’t conflict with Wow, or FT, it just adds a new dimension to the game?? What you guys think?

world of warcraft is good, but COD MW2 is much better, then warcraft 3 tft is much much better. Blizzard did tell the community about making a “Secret” Project, so it might be warcraft. besides, games about fantasy and lore are better than modern games, thats why the xbox360 is only good to most of the newbs whos first system is a 360, like the idiots in california (thats one of the reasons i like being in wisconson more than California).
